Allendale is ranked #5 in NJ Monthly's report of Top Towns in New Jersey. This puts Allendale in the top 1% of NJ towns according this highly respected report. Additionally, Northern Highlands HS ranks in the top 10% of all NJ High Schools - according to the same publication.

As one local resident puts it, "Allendale is a small town, with kind of a rural setting. That's what we like about it. That's why we have a lot of community spirit here".
